Default 2015 ultra classic tour pak removal issue

When I remove the tour pak from the 2015 ultra classic, my tail light and brake light both go out...thought it was the lamp/bulb, that checked good. I bought a new LED tail light/brake assembly, it did not work either. I have the additional saddle bag lights, so I could still ride it, since I would have tail/brake/turn lights, but I would like to find out why the tail light assembly goes dark when I unplug the tour pak. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated before I try to tackle a wiring harness/grounding issue within the tour pak (which is where I suspect the problem will be found) and add an additional return for the signals to the brake/tail light fixture. Thanks!

I have the same setup, including the bag lights, but not the same issue. My lights all work when the TP is off.

Stock connector for the main harness or is there a tie point for the tour pack?

The tour pak has a connector beneath the seat so it can be removed, and that removal causes the lack of tail/brake light but does not cause the additional bag lights to stop working. I guess I got lucky to add them before removing the tour pak, as I had no tail light and no brake light with the tour pak removed. At least I have some lights on the rear, but didn't want to sacrifice one to add two......
