Default Tachometer issue

Stock at 3k rpm. Does not drop or move up. Everything else works. Any idea?

No power to the tach? Model / year would be helpful.. If aftermarket, brand. Does it go to 0 on ignition on.. mechanical or electric tach.

If it seems to work normal but just stops at 3K it's pribabably the tach is bad. I've seen tach stick at 3k if the battery voltage is too high.. You'll typically get an error code on the speedo and ICM.

the tach can be tested with the speedo tester any dealer should have.
or
you can test it yourself if you have a frequency generator. you connect to the cam sensor connector 14b.
then you take the rpm to be tested and divide by 60 to convert to frequency that needs to be input to sweep the tach to desired rpm
example: 2000rpm/60=33.3hz.
A: 2000/60=33 tolerance +/- 100
B: 4000/60=67 tolerance 120
C: 6000/60=100 tolerance 210
D: 7500/60=125 tolerance 320
