07-up hyd. cam chain tensioners reports

On the roller chain, once the outer links groove in, they roll just like the roller chain did on the older Toyotas with the rubber tensioner. Wear stops then. However, probably would be a good idea to replace at 100K or 10 years since the shoe could get so brittle, it could break. The first picture has 90K.
Keep in mind on the link chain older bikes like yours and mine, (second picture) the hydraulic (joke) upgrade does not replace rear link chain and it is worst than the original spring tensioners since the 35 lb hydraulic pressure at 60 mph puts way too much pressure on the tensioner.
Without outboard support like the EVO, really no telling what the cranking runout is at high rpm. Makes no economic sense to do anything except replace the shoes for people like us. Not being a hot rod is what makes them last and $400 for 110K of miles can't be bad. My original are still there at almost 50K. (been saying I am going to change them out but I snowbird now ever winter and when I get back its riding time. (I don't ride far..so no big deal)
Third picture of mine at 30K

you cannot inspect the secondary shoe behind the cam plate with the newer set up, those shoes are still going to wear, you can see the primary, not the secondary, so when you have the cam cover off and you see the primary looking good are you safe? nope, well now lets pull the cam plate out and have a look see, oops, gotta pull the tank rocker boxes rocker support covers, ect ect, all this geared cam talk, you had better have almost zero crank run out or dont even bother, and more than likley that is not happennig
