The initial reading taken was off by .0005" Pinion run-out measured with proper device is .0125"

Measured another 2010 crank from a factory 103 with a reported 1500 miles. Run-out at bearing race was .006 on each side. Pinion end was far worse.

Any confidence I had in a factory crank is diminishing. IF anyone has a good one, I am happy for them.

The S&S route with left side Timken upgrade appears to be the best solution.

You bet.If the Timken setup is in the budget, do it. as long as you keep the comp assy torqued correctly, it will run a long time.
