Good idea yes, but IMO with a small part like these bearings, by the time you get them out of the freezer and fumbled into position to start pressing them in, they will have warmed up to the point that the extra step is wasted. That is, unless you're a lot quicker than I am. The lube is always a plus, though.

I agree that one should not waste any time installing any frozen bearing but I don't believe the size of the part makes any difference. I still do it and have tapped in may a bearing with an old cam shaft before I bought a tool. It seems to work but each to his own.

And that is really the bottom line. If it works, it works.

I Bought this kit
It looks good
The "gold Bolt" which as we all know is a grade 8 bolt has a few rough spots on the threads
I can clean them up easy
as the installer pushes the bearing in it will not try to rotate it " i was worried about that "

the puller is expanded alot
i have an old bearing here on the table for reference
I have a hose clamp on the collet end now to try to relax it down some
i think you could put a hose clamp on it on the inside part as you insert it into the old bearing and then take the hose clamp off to avoid having to try to "beating it into the old bearing with a rubber hammer"
I dont like that approach to much

so it looks all good the kit

I havent tried it but I believe the kit will be ok for the job

Mine was too.... I ended up squeezing it in a vice just a little to close it down some. I was afraid it would crack but it didn't.
