I wouldn't run a canned map alone without smart tuning after. But that won't do timing. You can get pretty close, waayyy closer than above, if you know what you're doing. Takes patience and data logging and knowing how to interpret the data tho. I was within 3 or 4 ft.lbs./hp. The 15+ft.lbs across the board in the dyno above must not have had a very good base map in the first place if at all. Couldn't be that far off if I tried.
Hell, you can do better than a lot of so called tuners that don't have a clue how to tune WITH a dyno. Plenty of them out there too.

I dropped $400 on a dyno tune and had to finish it myself. They never touched the timing.
Just because you got a dyno tune doesn't mean you're not leaving power on the table either. Some have even lost power on a dyno tune from a canned map. Goes both ways unfortunately.
Best to get a good canned map, smart tune, then take it to dyno tuner for an hour of fine tuning vs. spending 4 hours and $400 on the dyno.
But I also don't call good starting base maps for a build you bought outstanding customer service. It's expected as far as I'm concerned.

Screw the power numbers, who gives a F*#K. The absolute most important thing to me is the fuel and timing are set correctly, hell you could lean it out a little and get the dyno to give you a higher peak number but it's not going to last long. Everybody forgets the second word in the phrase "dyno TUNE"

Not just the peak numbers, but the delivery and overall smoothness of the bike.

Iv tried starting with a can map and doing some auto tune runs. Although it might seam to run good, nothing can compare to having your bike dyno tuned. It's worth the money

The difference is significant, not only with numbers but the fuel efficiency, and the "ridability" are so much improved. On my Twin Cam 110 after getting a cam upgrade, and a canned tune with a PowerVision, the dyno tune only netted me about 8 HP, and 10 LB/FT on the dyno sheet, but the seat-of-the-pants feeling, the fuel mileage gain, and overall manners that were gained made it feel like 25 HP and TQ
