Curious what percentage of HP/TQ is left on the table between a good canned tune and a proper dyno tune? Does anyone have any real world experience with this scenario?

My biggest gain was in torque more than horsepower. Peak numbers do not mean much for my riding style.
With out a doubt, a canned map is a starting point. But the only way your gonna know if you tuned it properly is if you have a way to data log the AFR's. Or as said a dyno tune..
I feel the same way as above. The difference in numbers would depend on if it's the exact build and same altitude and climate. That's not too often.
I had a map made from a shop with a good reputation and have the target tune with it but it will see a dyno for a fine tune when it's done.
Canned maps are like me try to wear your shoes, and you trying to wear my pants.....chances are neither will be correct.
Tuned in the hands of a skilled tuner is the way.
BTW, in Mass., there is a great tuner in Dracutt......DAS Performance, Eric Pauquette, and that is who refer mail-order clients to in that area, NOT the one in Gardner, and for sound reasoning.

a good tune is always better than a canned tune, but its imposible to actually put a number on it.also just cause your getting it dyno`d dosnt mean its going to be better.A LOT of guys tuning bikes shouldnt be from what we`ve seen.do your homework on finding a good tuner
I have a caned tune from FM, I checked it out on a dyno run my friend did it for free just to see. If he tuned it there would have been a increase but not a lot. So I saved 400.00 .
