Default Headwork first or pistons first?

So do I get my heads done first or do I buy my pistons first?

Sorry if it's a dumb question , but I been learning a crazy amount talking to some reputable people here. So I'm trying to absorb as much as I can.

If you're going to do them both, why can't you do them both at the same time?

BINGO!

Why go under the knife twice? If money is a issue. Wait till you have enough for both.

But, Your Bike Your Money...

Lol....no no no...not what I mean.
I have to order the pistons and send heads out
Question is what do I base it on...do I order pistons according to what specific work I'm doing to heads
Or

Do I request specific headwork based on what pistons I ordered etc

Either or I need 10.5:1 or 11:1 cr

Cam first; then build around the cam. You could have heads done first, keep OEM chamber volume but equalize, have them machined for compression releases, etc. then select a cam and working with cam specs and chamber volume work out if pistons should be flat top or domed and if domed, how much dome. If the OP does heads/pistons without cam specs, cam selection will be limited.

It is a symbiotic relationship. You need to talk with your head porter about the pistons. He will base the headwork on what you want to do. You want stock pistons, fine. You want high compression, domed pistons, fine.
The heads can be customized, the pistons so much.

Gotcha!

What part of the country are you from? Lots of great engine builders on this site and others around the US. Any Good Engine builder will direct you in the right direction.

Also what size motor currently?

* What DJL said makes sense as well.

you previously stated that you had SE small chamber heads and were speaking to weisco for compatible pistons to accommodate them

Currently I have SE 257 cams
They were installed 6000k ago.
The heads I have are SE pro.performance 76cc
the heads are already machined for compression release valves
SE cam plateHydrolic tensioners
Rienhart 4" 2 into 1 exhaust
It's 2001 ultra stripped down just a little
