Default 93 Heritage FLSTC

New to me, 1993 Heritage FLSTC S&S Carb, S&S oil pump,Electronic ignition.
Inner primary is cracked, that should be an easy fix. Broken throttle cable.
It runs and goes through the gears on the stand, I have not rode it yet.
The rear head gasket is blown. What head gaskets do you all recomend?
This is my new winter project.

Cometic MLS gaskets and OEM HD breather valves in rocker boxes.

What makes you say the head gasket is blown? Oil leak or other issue?

If the heads have to come off, you should replace the cylinder base gaskets while you are that far in. Depending on the mileage, I have the heads rebuilt, valve job and stem seals. And I'd likely re-ring the pistons, but have the base of the cylinders checked for true (flat) so the new gaskets will seal correctly. Ad have a machine shop check the cylinder bore / piston fit and properly hone the cylinders if they are all good.

On reassembly, check the piston deck heigth and select the base gasket thickness to get the desired heigth.

The head gasket is blow because you can see part of the gasket hanging out and feel the air being pushed out if you put your hand there.
The orignal ower blew it out. The bike was dirt cheep so i grabbed it. the wires from the bars were all un hooked and not marked so it took me a little bit to find out where they go.

Base gaskets are not leaking BUT while im in there I'll replace them.

IT RUNS

With a bad head gasket, be aware that ‘93 was a bad year for case threads. If any head bolt is loose on disassembly, chances are that a thru stud is pulling out of the case.

NOTED thank you!
I'm going to attack the crack inner primary leak first. I will pay close attention when pulling the top end..

The broken bolt tabs on an inner primary is usually from someone not aligning the trans and engine when re-installing the primary after the engine or trans or both have been removed. There is a procedure (order the engine and trans are tightened while fitting the primary) that describes how to do that. And, that bottom bolt by the crack looks liks it's metric so the threads may have been damaged too.

Ha ha. **** now that you say that and judging by the guy I bought it from,I wouldn't be surprised if there's an 8mm stuffed in that hole. I have everything i need to fix that hole if needed.
Ill be getting new hardware for the install. I have plenty of machine shop experience,Im ready for surprises and not in a hurry. Ill ride the Indian or the duce in the meantime.

I got to say that thing sounds like it runs pretty good .. He's definitely had it built. It's got good pop, indicating higher than normal compression..
If you did have a cylinder stud that pulled you definitely would have seen leakage at the base gasket.. So if you don't have any leakage down there it's a good indication that you didn't pull anything..
