I am in the process of upgrading my suspension and brakes on my 1998 Road Glide. I am adding ohlins cartridges and Ohlins rear shocks from Motorcycle Metal. I am also upgrading the fork sliders from an 06 and swingarm from an 07. With this change I will now be running 1" axels and going with brembo brakes
So my problem is what to do with the mechanical speed sensor? I though about machining down part of the axel to allow the speed sensor to keep working but it appears that sensor is wider than I tough and it use to rest inside the hub of the front wheel and the tab on the sensor rested on the brake rotor.
Please let me know of any ideas to correct my issue.
Thanks

If it doesn't have the hole...if you ever thought about a 6 speed...many of those have the hole in the trap door.

I did this same thing to my 97 except I used 4 piston calipers instead of bremos. I took a 1 inch axle to my machinist and had him turn it down to 3/4 from the big end shoulder out to the taper. I used my original wheel and spacers. If you are changing wheels you will need to use 3/4 bearings and figure out the spacers.

I did similar to above, but used 07 style wheels as well, with the sealed bearings.
I used 3/4 ID bearings.
I machined a new spacer for the right side, ( shortened the original one)
The speedo drive was also shortened, on the wheel side so it sits in the wheel and the tabs engage with slots I cut in rotors.
No spacers needed.
Not too difficult.

Should you decide to use a 3/4 dia. axle, you want HD bearings 9267.
I turned the right side spacer down to .886 and the speedo drive to .968.
IT seems to work fine.
I didn't use Brembos, and don't know if the rotors are different from the earlier 07 brakes, or what wheels you're using. That might make a difference.
