Default Odd new development

So I'm out last night riding and my oil fill cap blew off and sprayed oil all over the wifes leg. I stopped. Cleaned up. Put the cap back on and it did it two more times. Any ideas WTH is the problem ? I was just normally cruising on the highway. Wasnt ******* on it or riding ***** to the wall.

Check your breather hose first off and make sure it is open. Is this a top or bottom breather?

If you have a Harley brand temperature dipstick, they known for the "rubber" to shrink and blow out for no reason.

Not sure what you are riding, but my '91 Sportster will do that if you overfill the tank. Using the "cold" line on the dipstick is a no-no, warm it up and then check the level. Otherwise warm it up and the dipstick becomes a projectile including a nice hot oil shower for you and the bike.
