Default Floor boards mount ups aren't located at the same height

So I bought new floor boards for my 87 Softail Custom, while I was mounting them up I noticed that the mount up locations on my scooter are at different heights. I've owned the bike for 3 years and am the 3rd owner. I was told that it has never been crashed and I haven't seen any signs of damage. The mounts on the bike are straight just at different locations. My question is this normal or did someone put 2 different mounts on my bike?

I also have a 87 with pegs , and mine are off just like yours. Someone before me swapped the boards for pegs, and one of the sides must be from a different year bike is all I can think of. On mine the RH side is lower and forward by maybe a half inch each way.

Being you have only owned for three yrs, you never know if one side has been replaced in the past. I have looked at mine a few times, and if I was going to correct the problem, I think the RH side would be the side I would alter.

Mine are slightly different on a '91. They feel ok and you really have to look to note the difference. I have not owned the bike for its entire life so I don't know if this is 'factory' or not.

My 96 Fatboy is the same, one floorboard is higher than the other.

Maybe the previous owner walked in circles.
