Default RIP Crank Position Sensor

One of the joys of swapping the MM EFI to carby is getting rid of all EFI associated boxes, sensors, and wiring. One of those is the crank position sensor. I made a plate to cover the hole, but it won't stay sealed. Anyone share something that worked for you?

Cut a fiber gasket, use Permatex High Tack on both sides of the gasket and install.

Edit to add: It will be a bitch to get off but, won't leak if you have both surfaces good and clean.

I also made a plate for mine -- the key is: stock gasket plus a little of "the magic" (as Tee&Vee christened it)

https://www.permatex.com/products/ga...-gasket-maker/

stuff stays soft forever, so it isnt a giant bitch to remove if you have to, but is totally oil resistant (and god forbid a little gets into the inner workings....it stays soft....so wont bind anything up)

highly recommended

I agree, make a gasket AND use a sealant. I don't like a sealer that sets up like silicone stuff. Sometimes you gotta use it.

I have had good luck with Hylomar (MoCo recommends it) using it as a gasket dressing and a thread sealant. Does not set up. It gets tacky once it's out of the tube, but stays that way. Works great and is fuel resistant. Brake cleaner spray cleans it off your fingers.

Does a great job on those difficult to seal intake manifold seals. Hylomar is kind of hard to find, but this is the same stuff (link below) and is available at most of the chain auto parts stores:

I swear by this stuff, also.
I use it on intake seals, valve cover & anywhere else I feel the need.
Got mine off E-bay.

Yes, I like the "Hylomar" brand better, but the permatex stuff is easier to find for me. The permatex stuff is a little more "runny" or "wetter" than the hylomar, but I found letting the solvent off gas for a few minutes before assembly takes care of it. It seems to thicken a little letting the solvent off gas. YD

Would a crank sensor and vehicle speed sensor have similar dimensions?
If they do have the same dimensions then the block-off available for speed sensor might work in that location.
It would have the o-ring too.
