OK thanks everyone for your replies. I appreciate them very much. Here's a pic of the bike BTW. And one with its original owner sitting on it.

Chaps and bare arms? Hmmmmm. Looks a cool dude, there's no denying. Reminds me of my original Harley:

Like many here, Ive been through most of the tires made over the last 40 years...I ran Metzler for the last 5 years or so..Ive switched to Michelin last year and wont ever look back... I was getting in the 8000 range rears and 10,000 fronts with the Metzler 880 and changed to the Metzler 888's the Michelins now are both close to 10,000 and still have plenty of wear left..also..the wet weather grip is the best Ive experienced with the Michelins...

yes..the commander II they grip excellent, the feel in the tight turns is very sure footed, and the interstate noise is nothing.... it is always your choice, and advice comes from those who have used certain tires and are happy with the choice they made I am certainly no expert..but I know that when I find a tire that gives me security in all weather, and lasts a long time ( I tend to still ride pretty hard, and Im not easy on my tires at all ), the Michelin's fit that bill...

I hear you. Here's a cool video from around the time the pic was taken.

So I ran the Dunlop Elite 402s on my Road King. When the American Elite came out I switched to that and think it's even better. I'm surprised no one mentioned them anywhere in this thread.

402's are not part of Dunlops Elite series!

Except for posts 2,6, and 10 you would be correct.
