Microsquirt
No ya perv, I'm talking about the DIY fuel injection system from Megasquirt.

So I've got an Evo (and I'm assuming most of us on the Evo forum do as well
) but the MM FI system is trash. The Delphi FI is much more robust and supported by the aftermarket community.
Here's where my gears start turning. If one was to buy a manifold for an FI Evo (like from a 1998 Ultra FI) they'd have a throttle body that's marginal in performance but would come with all the bells and whistles to adapt an FI system onto their Evo IF they could somehow tell the computer when to shoot off the injectors (commonly from the Crank Position Sensor on the Twinkie).
Where Microsquirt is great is that system isn't necessary mandatory. Why? Well, what else can be read off the motor and could be used to indicate the crank position? Anyone??? Bueller?????
YOUR SPARK!!!!! Plug goes BANG at the same place (for the most part), same time, every time. Yea it happens twice as often as it needs to with the dead spark but you get the idea, at least it's an indication of crank position.
So, Microsquirt sees SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK SPARK and based on this goes SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT SQUIRT (you get the idea).
My only objective now is whether or not a Delphi thottle body from an 02 Twinkie will bolt up to an Evo. Will it? I've compared part numbers on Ronnies and the 98 model ends in 98 and the 99 ends in 99 even though the first 5 digits are the same.
Also, the fuel delivery is the easy part here. Golan petcock with fuel pump and pressure regulator under left side cover under seat, FI rated fuel line, and return line up to a "T" that's in your crossover tube under the frame at the front of the tank.
Thoughts?

I think I found the smoking gun. S&S manifold part 16-5141 is for their single-bore throttle bodies and is listed on their catalog as the same part number for the Evo and the TC. That tells me the manifold and throttle body from the 04 Ultra I sold to my Bro-in-law, who got all the FI bits after I converted it to carb, will fit on my Evo.
I've also confirmed I can use the coil negative to drive the Microsquirt timing for the squirts in a fuel-only application. Which is great since I don't want to figure out an ignition curve along with a fuel curve.

Thoughts, You OK?
Thoughts, a carb will out perform the M&M EFI on a Evo, all other EFI installs on a Evo costs 1 or 2 kidney's and a Delphi install would need someone possessed.
Thoughts, Evo's engine accept a carb is like peanut butter and jelly.
Reality, a 2002 carb intake will fit a Evo so assuming a 2002 Delphi intake will also. S&S makes a pretty good EFI to replace the M&M but with only 1 kidney left drinking beer becomes a mega squirt more than you would like.

Unless I was going AA I would not bother with injection.
Even Harley would not except for the EPA *****.
Yes, you can dial your AFR within a gnat's ****, but at what expense...?
however you did not ask these questions and just want to know..
You are allowed to do what you want ...still. in most states.
I would also look into SDS injection (simple digital systems)

Little bit I read about it is a powerful system.
Thoughts, screw that but most likely a budget system available

I've Megasquirted 3 vehicles: 22R RN Truck, 4AG20 valve in an AE92, 883 Sportster. Next Megasquirt project is Dr.Linda's Europa with a turbocharged Toyota 1NZFE motor. I have plans to do my bike, but it's "on the list." First I'll need to upgrade the electrical system to the 30-something amp version. Getting all that to work on the 19 amp Sportster system was not easy.
Trending Topics
Budget Schmudget, this system will be preceeding a turbo.
Hence the reason i want a pressurized fuel system.
A lot of ya are asking why. Well, I'll tell ya. Tinkering.
Tinkering with mechanical systems is my muse. It gets me up in the morning, helps me get through a shitty day at work, gives me something to daydream about, gives me something to **** away my money on, gives me something to keep my hands and brain busy. I think that's why I like Harley's so much. The tinkering possibilities are endless! You wanna graft an FI system onto your Evo? Go ahead! In fact, you may even be able to use a lot of OEM HD parts since HD's manufacturing practices incorporate a lot of "parts bin" diving, which makes building oddball **** even easier. The only problem is that I need two bikes because this one's my perpetual canvas. When will it be done? Who knows... Don't care... I may end up being buried with it (and that damn scorched piston)
As mentioned above, FI on an older Sporty. I LOVE IT! I'm guessing a Buell throttle body? Hell, you could even use one from a brand new Roadster, it would fit. Not sure why the alternator was the weak link tho, depending on your choice of fuel pump of course.

BTW, I'd like to keep this fuel only. I realize you can control ignition with Microsquirt too but the HD system is tried and true, and I love how VOES just take a few degrees right out of the loop as a protective measure against detonation. That is perfect for a boosted application.
