Yep. Lot of fun. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to 'play' with it. I'm thinking about putting it on the market:
Before:
And after way too much money:
But back to the OP's question... I looked into the MS system when I was contemplating the EFI engine for the CJ. I liked what I read, but after also looking into the EEC-III Ford system, it was an easier conversion. My 76 CJ5 'thinks' its a 93 Mustang.
I'd really like to do a MS project, just have way too many other things on the burner right now...
Thanks for the info. That's a bad-*** Jeep ya got there.
Oh, and I'm the OP, I've got free reign to derail my own thread.
Found the MM EFI easy to reset and get running correctly on my 98 Ultra. No scanalyser, etc. needed. Would not trade it for any carb. This system has an undeserved bad rep, IMO.
Yeah, I run MegaSquirt on the Sportster. Dr.Linda says it's like riding with an automatic transmission. Just put it in a gear and go. That is, smooth. Go for it.
Hi Dr. Hess
I just installed a microsquirt on my sportster, and it sort of runs, but definitely not as smooth as you say. It's probably a matter of configuration. Would you care to share your VE table? Just for me to understand the broad picture, obviously the absolute values would not suit my needs, but I need to see how it looks like
I haven't messed with megasquirt in maybe 15 years now. The biggest thing was to not use the MAP sensor, except for barometric correction. So, only use alpha-n, not speed density. After that, if you "auto tune" with a laptop in a backpack, you should get pretty close. That's about what I did with it.
Here is the last .vex file I could find for it:

Also, make sure that you have a temp sensor working. I put a thermistor in a ring terminal and put that under the motor mount on the head. Works great. Another thermistor in the air cleaner for IAT. Fiddle with the temp settings to compensate for the larger temp variances that an air cooled motor will have versus a water cooled one.
If you can email the files to gl.90.hog@gmail.com, I appreciate it!
I installed the temperature sensor already, on a intake manifold bolt, seems to work fine
Also note that we are running basically a stripped down megasquirt 1 series board. Microsquirt was always "any day now" on the initial release and I just gave up on waiting for it and built this one. But the maps and some of the other settings should get you going.
