I would not convert to bones on bones steel brass bushings as it would ruin the less vibration concept i would think
Not so! Take a look at any Buell or current Sportster - they use three spherical-joint links in conjunction with rubber mounts. I have three of Wisconsin's finest, each with it's own take on the rubber-mount system. My Glide had only two links as built, but for many years has had three, like the others - just as god intended....

Reason: Revised wording.
I just updated my words above, to improve them. My Glide's extra link is a True-Track, which does do a remarkably good job of tightening handling up - assuming the rest of the bike is in top shape, of course!
I have a 3rd link also and this old ***** tracks better than my Honda Goldwing!
Way better!
I truly believe most people ignore the more important parts and buy the chrome crap instead.
I can cruise all day at 85 or 95 MPH loaded heavy with two up.
It is a comfortable machine.
.
Why should I buy a Baker 6-speed when i can gear up my front Pully by 2 teeth and get a better MPG-Cruising range for $200 or so?????
1996 FXSTC 1340cc HD Softail Front Pully Gear-Up Taller by 2 Teeth??
People have been changing gear ratios on motorcycles starting the day after they were invented.
The problem is...anything you gain on one end...you lose on the other,
With a properly geared 6 speed you could gain on both ends.
Putting a 6 speed on my bike was the best mod I have ever made.
THX Dr.grBrown aka HOGDOCmdBrown!!!
THX!!! as always,
For my 96 Softail, are you saying i should be safe to do what you did to your swingarm and buy the Extra link Setup from Co. called True-Track??
Where can I buy Kit?? Drag Spec?? or J&P or Tucker Rocky???
Ya True-Track Awesome-i just went to their website, but
Softails a non rubber mount engine setup, so the Softails Cant use/dont need this Upgrade;
but thx 4 posting to all those wll will benefit tho..Awesome product!!!
Thx,
ss
No they don't, being solid-mounts, not rubber mounts. There is no way of using an extra stabiliser on a Softail. We got sidelined onto rubber-mounts with that topic!
