So, with severe neglect, a sprocket can become a pulley!

Yes, you keep the same front pulley.. It will center itself once the rear wheel is aligned properly. If you wan to go to a narrow belt I have found that the 1 1/8" belt can with stand a lot of power. A few years ago I went to 2000 up rims and so I was able to run a stock 70 x 1 1/8" pulley coupled by an S&S 130 tooth belt. No issues with the brakes...

Don't forget the 99 down are 2.0" centers for the pulley and rotors and 2000 up are 2.2" centers....

When going to a narrow belt, if you keep the same tooth count on the two pulleys then the tooth count on the belt will be unchanged.

Like Tom I've gone to a 1 1/8" belt with later spec wheels and swingarm, have also upgraded to later spec Brembo brakes, which makes things a little more complicated. With my 30/70 pulleys I use a stock Sportster belt which, by good fortune, is two teeth shorter than my previous stock Touring belt.

Evolista wanna be here regarding the 30/70 pulley swap on my 2014 Slim I did same year I bought it.
Kept same belt. Only 7k mi. on it. But I did loose some belt adjustability setting. Almost half. Didn’t measure. I probaly should have put a sportster belt on it? Or would that have been too short on a softail?

Good info on the wheel swap. Thanks. Very happy with my stock setup thus far, but good to know as I'm looking through swapmeet parts. As I re-inspected my rear wheel before mounting it back on, the sprocket/tooth pulley is still in decent shape so it will serve for many more miles.

New Michelin Commander II and re-packed bearing. Last tire got 15K, so I'm really happy with them. Had balance bead in them also.
