Question Rear pulley wear

Removed rear wheel for tire change and noticed a good deal of galling/spalling on bottom of rear pulley teeth. Haven't looked at drive pulley yet.

Bike has 51k on it, daily rider, always road construction around Orlando. Drive through sandy grit a lot.

Is this a culprit for this kind of wear? Last tire change belt was ok.

How many of you have seen this and at what point did you change the pulley?

Thanks

Sounds about normal mostly rear pulleys go out way before a belt or front pulley had mine replaced at about 70K miles. And its not cheap either.

I noted the same thing on my bike when I installed a new tire. The belt looks good so I'm just running it. It would be impossible to keep all the sand and small road debris out of the pulley. I would continue to run it until it's time for a new belt. Just my .02

Nice! I will probably do this at next tire change. Did you replace just the rear?
What was the cost?

Thanks

I have about 42K on my 2008 FLHTC. The pulley looks like chrome is peeling off the teeth but the belt looks fine. I am going to replace my rear pulley only with the 68 tooth Japanese sportster one for a little more torque to the back wheel. They are around $200.

. It'll be about $525 plus the ride and they'll turn it around on about 3 days. Ironhorses were notorious for the crappy sprockets. This company has fixed many of em and do nice work.

New sprocket is cheaper on a Harley as I plan to do the Jap Sportster pulley as well...but there are NO more Ironhorse parts...
