Default Lifter not bleeding down

Need your help on this. Background-trying to adjust my front exhaust PRs to take out some valve train noise. Found out that the PRs were way loose. don't know the brand of PRs, but they are 24 TPI, so I took it down 2.5 turns from zero lash. I get absolutely no lifer bleed down after 15 min, 45 min, or even overnight. I'm stumped. What could be causing the lifter not to bleed down?

My next option is to adjust the lifter until it bottoms out, and then come up half way. Thanks for suggestions.

I have front cylinder on TDC, with line in middle of inspection hole, so I'm 100% sure I'm on compression.

24 threads is 3 turns so you are going to be shy of the .100 setting with 2.5 so something is wrong. Check the lifter/cam lobe for being in the right spot by watching the lifter coming down to the flat of the cam when turning the motor, that baby is bottomed out the way your setting it.

Are you running a set of EZ start cams? you could confuse TDC by PR's sitting on releases

My understanding is 2.5 turns on PRs that are 24 TPI gets you to .104= (.0416 x 2.5 turns). For standard lifters of .200 travel, this would get them about middle pre-load setting. I was going to try for 3.5 turns, which would set me at .1456 for the Woods 6 cam, but the lifter didn't bleed down. Then I backed it off incrementally to 3, 2.5, 2, 1.5, 1 turn and then zero lash.

Last night, I put her back to zero lash (because I couldn't finger turn PR at any other setting) and started the bike to run it hoping to maybe clear debris that could cause the lifter not to bleed down. May or may not work. I'll go back in and try to reset it tonight. These aren't the EZ type adjustable PRs that you can take out without removing the rocker cover box. I would have pulled the lifter already.

Just looking for more ideas. Thanks.

You could spend an eternity trying to wish the lifter into bleeding down...

Quit messing around with it and just bite the bullet.

There`s no magical cure to fix an installed lifter, and even if it starts to bleed down now, do you trust it?

Shitcan it. Get a new one from WFO Larry for small money.
