Default Help with choosing between two 1998's

Howdy all. Quick question. Looking at adding a second bike. have narrowed it down to two..both 1998's. A Dyna Convertible or a Dyna Low Rider. The Convertible has 87,000 miles, no major issues and is under $4000. The Low Rider has 43,000, has visible leakage at the crankcase, has these FUGLY Aftermarket parts on it, and is $4100. Which would you all take a gander at? Why your choice over the other? Thank you kindly..!

The Convertible. It's in essence a Low Rider with a few factory supplied goodies, which can be removed to convert it from touring to struttin' mode. Assuming it still has all the stock extras of course! A pal of mine bought a new one, although I don't recall which model year.

First post goes for the Convertible. Nice. I do like it alot, love the price even more. Was a bit apprehensive because of the miles, but I am sure I can handle anything coming up the pike if it indeed does. Do both models have the degree from the triples in this year, or will there be more rake in the Low Rider? And yes, the Convertible has the bags and the windshield which I likely won't ever use.

I vaguely recall the Convertible has taller suspension and twin front rotors, am I right? If so it will NOT have raked forks IMHO.

You are correct. I would remedy that with progressive shocks..Plan on lowering it to 11.5" as it would just be my bike. I have the Fatboy for two up riding...

Exclamation

Don't lower the darned thing - defeats the object of having plenty of ground clearance!

Low Rider and Wide Glide have additional rake built into the frame. Convertible and Super Glide have less rake. 28 VS 31 if I recall. Only makes a difference pending what your ultimate goal is for the bike.

Thank you for the reply. The 87,000 miles isn't something to be concerned about? I only ask as this would be my first EVO. Thanks.

They have done well over 100k miles. No reason why yours shouldn't do many more, assuming all is well with it. And we can always help ya fit a BIG motor if and when the time comes. Nothing we like more than to help a fellow owner spend their money - we won't abandon you!
