Like I said, saying the FXR is best is subjective.

There is no best EVO model.

I thought it was already a given that the 98 Road King Classic was the finest EVO ever to roll off the assembly line.

By shear coincidence, I happen to have one myself.

Here Here, never thought an antiquated fuel injection system would be for me, but I bought the '98 RK Classic and (after bringing it back from some neglect and sloppy ownership) we are becoming very attached to eachother. I LOVE THAT BIKE.

I'd say the FLSTN Heritage Special was the best Evo, because that was the one I owned for 25 years and 223,000 miles. Yes, it had a bit of vibration, but nothing I couldn't live with. The sweet spot was between 55 and 70 MPH, where the vibration was at its minimum, and the bike was very comfortable to ride.

I must say that's probably one of the worst looking fxr's I ever seen..
The earlier models were the ones that were known..

Well beauty is in the eye of the beholder so that's subjective at best, as for best Evo well I'd say there's no doubt that the FXR was the best handling, what makes a bike best is also subjective.
I do like the earlier FXRs looks better,I had an early '84 FXRS,all Shovel style running gear, dry clutch chain drive etc. It was one of the first Evo bikes ever made.
Damn fine machine I rode the hell out of for a decade and always regretted selling back in '02 to pay off the new Electra I bought in 2000.
So much so last Summer I bought an '89 FXR for a project restomod, when it's done it will be something like this one,I already have many of the parts purchased.
