Default Last Evo models.

Wondering what the last EVO models were before the twin cam happened?
Also, would they be the best models to own in the evo range?

The last year for the big twin evo engine was 98 for the rubber mount versions and 99 for the Softail.
HD produced some limited run FXR’s with the evo engine, but I’m not sure if the years... FXR2 FXR3 I think.

2000 I believe were the last EVO with the limited CVO. They really were sweet bikes. It’s cool Harley ended the EVO with the FXR....beginnings of the CVO.

So are the rubber mounted models considered to be better than non rubber mounted ones?
I have a Twin cam softail and a Shovel neither of which are rubber mounted and I quite like them.
Thinking of getting an Evo and trying to work out the ideal model for me.

They’re just different model bikes... Same engine, different frames, so different mounting system. I wouldn’t say ones better than the other, but the rubber mounts make for a smoother ride.

Nothing looks better than rigid mount, the engine is tight inside the frame. The rubber mounts have lots of daylight between the frame and the engine.

It can be a little weird looking at a rubber mount idling at a Stoplight... damn engine bouncing around, but they smooth out once you take off.

Also your TC softail is a counterbalanced engine... smoother than any of the EVOs

From my limited experience.....

I have a TC balanced softail and it has a buzzier feel. This may be due to the bike's specific crank runout. In a Softail I'd rather have the smoother TC over the Evo.

OveralI I like the feel of the rubber bikes better, it's a soothing vibration. I'm a rubber Evo guy over any of them.

The best evo model is probably the FXR 2/3/4.

That is strictly subjective, lots of folks (at least me) don`t go for the FXR. I always thought it looked like a UJM.
