Default help new old cycle

FXST CUSTOM 1990 1340 Evolution , Bike has been sitting 10 years maybe more, when I try to fire for first time oil pours out of PVC hose running back to air cleaner. Being a scavenger oil system could the crankcase be overfull with oil ? The oil tank is showing almost to full line and it seems to turn over fine. I'm not to familiar with the Evo engine, also were would I find a service manual for this antique thanks

Its called wet supping from sitting, common when they sit for long periods, she will probably be fine once she pukes the access out of crankcase, you can check the check ball and spring one top of oil pump if you have anymore problems

They All Do That, Sir.

Only purchase a genuine HD factory service manual.

My shovelhead would do that after it sat for a few days. Put a pan under it to catch the oil and fire it up - after a couple minutes it will stop. Just check your oil level regularly and it will be fine. Like the good Dr. said "they all do that" when they get a little older.

Mine did it since new. My shovelhead did too. I would go to sea, come back 5,6 months later and put a pan under it for the oil to puke into, ALMOST every time. Still does, 35 years later.
