Default Oil coming from air cleaner

Hi , I have an 85 Evo. I started it yesterday after some months and oil poured out of the air cleaner, coming from the vent tube going into the back of it. I reckon about quarter of a cup came out. It eventually eased up but the bike also stopped dead after 10 mins of running. No spark at all but would turn over. the oil light was off while running. Started it again this morning, no problem and oil again poured out the vent tube. Any ideas, Thanks

Dont worry ... its normal for a HD motor to puke oil after sitting for a while.
Reasons are ... engine is a dry sump type , oil seeps from oil tank into crankcase over time . When stored motor is started , oil is purged out .
Start and run to op.temp. then shut off and recheck oil level.

While is may be considered normal for an engine to sump oil after sitting for awhile, if it does it after just one night then I think you should address the problem. If you look at the oil pump in your service manual you will see the check valve located under one of those large screws on top, it's just a little ball bearing and spring. Take it apart, clean it all, maybe get a new ball and spring and try it again. You can search here for Oil sumping or pukeing, it's been discussed and described many times..

Yeah, "They all do that, sir." Most of us have routed the breather down to the ground. You can buy a little air filter for just that purpose, or just leave the hose pointing down.
