Exclamation Latest lifter info?

Hey. What is the latest on the BEST lifters for Evo big twin? Not looking for hi performance Hi Lift application, just stock but longest lasting - price be damned.
I am looking at the Johnson Hy lift site, I am almost seeing evidence that the Evo lifters may suddenly be discontinued.
What is the difference between Johnson Hy Lift and Johnson SEC[specialty engine components] but told that they are a different manufacturer? They seem to use close to the same numbering system for their lifters.
Now I am seeing posts where guys are using the the LS lifters in not only Twin Cams but now also Evo engines! Same .842 dia. Where does it all end ? :-)
Thanks, Frank

I haven't seen any innovation on Evo lifters, and don't think there will be. Best, long, lasting stock....maybe stock ones? You can't go wrong with Johnson Hylift, and I don't know where you are reading some of your information. Have not heard of discontinued production of Evo lifters by J-H or running LS lifters in an Evo. Got links?

I am no expert and really just enquiring but I notice Larrys machine has removed them from their online store. Maybe I'm jumping the gun cuz I understand that they were backordered to them.

Saw a couple of long term facebook wrenches that mentioned using Auto LS lifters in Evo so I had to ask, wouldn't consider doing so at this time.
So my initial question still stands.... Best lifters?
On and off I see info that Hy Lifts are now made offshore... OEM are no good ..... Fuelings are exploding.... I don't know so just the latest thoughts would be fine from you guys that do it all the time.

If you don`t have a source of these stories, why pass them along?

Choices have gotten slim in the last few years for Evo lifters. A lot of big name companies have stopped offering them.

Beware sellers advertising Johnson lifters for Evos. They discontinued them a few years ago so any you see for sale new, are possibly misrepresented. S&S has had some issues lately with failures out of the box. Haven't used Jims in some years but the ones I ran were just OK, nothing special. Most ever other choice will be Chiwanese made and either re-branded at high prices or cheap priced and just as unreliable.

The early stock Evo lifters were a weak link. Unless you're someone who thinks he "needs" exotic lifters for whatever reason, the current 18523-86B is good as it gets. May be some other brands as good, but none "better." Or you can go with Screamin Eagle 18568-98 which are a bit less $$. SE version available only in sets of 4, -86B OEM can be bought individually.

I've had hands on with maybe 10 sets of OEM (-86B) as well as run a set for about 60k now and I've yet to have, or hear of one failing.

Harley B's can hold up to a Woods cam square lobe shock, that's good enough for me. Have S&S on a 640 in the big cube doing well but not cost friendly when a Harley B can hold up to a basic engine.

Thanks again for your info guys. Glad to hear that the OEMs are still adequate. Thats probably the way I'll go then unless anyone has anything to add.

I remember reading somewhere that evo lifters were the same as small block chevy lifters.
Is there any truth to this?

I have have no idea on the quality, but the 18568-98 Screamin Eagles cost less than the 18523-86b
