Default 1989 FLHS, Stuff to Do Etc ...

These cell pics aren't good enough to load this big.
I think I am done ordering stuff for a while. Taking the inner primary off to do the trans shift lever, and hope the splines are ok. "While I'm in there"... 57,000 miles. Alternator, clutch discs, cable, spring (heavy pull). Not used to the newer trans style. I ordered a more stock sized windshield from Jurock, I'm curious to see how it looks.
I got the EV13 cam, looking to keep my stock pushrods if they are good. Got the bearing. Such a pain to decide on lifters. I found 2 sets of Johnson Hylift slow leakdown types on ebay. I took a chance on a set. There is also a set of xxxx-86B NOS HD OEM in the box but the plunger was held in by a wire retainer and not a circlip ,I read the circlips are the B type.
It's getting nicer out so hopefully I will get going on this soon. Fingers crossed.

NO to heavy clutch spring. It will wear out the adjuster plate in short order. You can count on that.

Yes absolutely. I just bought one hoping it's lighter than what's in there now. It feels like I should have been working out with those muscle builder spring things at my desk! Seems too heavy. I'll see if the rod is bent or something.

Trust me, the heavier than stock diaphragm spring will wear out the back side of that 4 hole aluminum adjuster in short order, Only one place to buy them if still available for $89.00 and that was 4 years ago.

Bookmark this page, you will need it if you ignore my advice, I won't look it up again.

Yes, I was wanting to use a lighter spring. I bought an aftermarket one to see if it is lighter. I never wanted a heavy pull.
I bought a Barnett clutch cable. I'm not too sure what history the bike's cable has.

If your clutch plates are very worn, making the pack thinner, it'll make the clutch spring feel heavier as it is more 'cone shaped'. New plates will make the spring flatter and easier to pull.

Interesting. The A/B/C disc might be on the wrong position given the wear.

I’d update the drive pulley retention nut while it’s apart, it was common for them to loosen up and ruin the splines on the gear.
