I ran AGM batteries in my 1989 ElectraGlide. I did so with the stock electrics and the CycleElectrics upgrade system. No issues.

 

Yeah, and you had to pry the caps off to add water...

 

I don't think HD sold any gel cell batteries.

 

Recently pulled a working AGM from a 78 FL with stock charging system
It lasted 7 YEARS

OE flooded battery was 165cca @20ah. Most all AGM will be about 320-340cca@22ah

 

I just had a 500cca Yausa bagger battery die, installed in early ‘19, 7 years is a good run.

 

Yeah the fl's take the 30 series batteries.. you can get a lot higher ampere and cca rating than that of the 20 series..

I believe you are confusing AGM with some Lithium variants
