Default Agm battery

Before I pull the trigger on a new battery what are your thoughts on an AGM battery. I have never purchased that type of battery before and was curious pros and cons from those of you that are using them in your scooters.

I always buy AGM, why mess with liquid acid? Manufacturers are putting all their improvements in these batteries, liquid batteries are just made for old timers afraid of change. Get a good brand like Odyssey and you won't be sorry.

I believe you have a 22 amp charging system.. I'm not sure if that's going to be enough to keep an AGM battery healthy for a long period of time.. I would personally stick with a led acid battery and keep an eye on the fluid levels. That's what your system was designed for.. Just try to find a battery that's somewhere up around 300 amp cca.. and maybe clean the armature and brushes on your starter..

I think you should ask yourself WHY. Are you having a problem with your stock battery? I f they were so much better why don't come with new bikes and cars at least as an option? Me Im sticking to what I have been using for the last 60+ years.

Back when I rebuilt the bike I increased charging system to a higher amp charging system I believe is 32 amps. Harley battery is sealed maintenance free,got5 years from the last one, this one not so strong, 330 cca new AGM looking at is 325cca...but yes everything will be checked and cleaned including the lollipop in the Solenoid.

I'd go AGM. Got one in my 65 pan and another in a 78 CB750 honda. They work great.

Advantages,
Sealed battery.
Handles vibrations better.
More CCA.

Charging ain't any harder than flooded battery except that you want to make sure that the charging system don't put out more than 14.4 volts.

If I am not mistaken a sealed maintenance free battery is an AGM.

I'm pretty sure not all sealed maintenance free batteries ard AGM. Sealed maintenance free batteries were around before I ever heard of AGM's.

AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) and SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) batteries are not the same, but AGM is actually a type of SLA battery. While both are sealed, maintenance-free, and use lead-acid chemistry, AGM batteries utilize a fiberglass mat to absorb the electrolyte, whereas other SLA batteries may use gel or other variations.AGM batteries generally offer better performance, longer lifespan, and faster charging compared to traditional SLA designs.
