Default 97 road king no start

Hey all, I have a 97 road king and I fried something and not I cannot get it to start. So to preface, the battery died over the winter, I jumped the bike multiple times to start it over the winter. A couple days ago I replaced the battery, then removed to tank to change plug wires, and throttle cables and the petcock. Put it all back together and no start. I pulled a spark plug and I’m getting spark, albeit an orange tinted spark. I see gas spraying into the intake when I twist the throttle. FB groups seem to think I fried the regulator since I jumped it off with a jump pack so much, which I’m ok with I can chalk it up to a lesson learned and if that’s the case I learned a valuable lesson. Is this a symptom of a bad voltage regulator? Thanks in advance !

Charge the battery fully, like for 24 hours. Then try again.

unfortunately I have already tried that and purchased 2 brand new batteries. It’s frustrating man, I’ve always been able to work on my own bikes but this is the first time I have ran into something that seems electrical. It’s not even my bike, it’s my dad’s and I’m just trying to get him back on the road before he starts his cancer treatments this summer. I gave him the keys to my softail for the time being but I would really like to get his road king going.

I can tell you, starting one wit ha CV after it has sat for a while can be difficult, mine is. Regulator has nothing to do with starting (for now) If the ignition module dies, it's dead. A coil can get weak. With the tank having been off you may not have gotten the carb full if it's a vacuum petcock. Only takes 1/8" gas in the bottom to squirt.

Use the choke full out and do not twist the throttle. It's real easy to flood them on a cold start/sitting long. I usually hook jumper cables to mine off the car. Just crank on it for no more than 15 seconds then let it cool 2 minutes, repeat.

I’ll give it a shot. It has a direct non vacuum petcock and an S&S super E carb.

Take the timing cover off, see if it's tan goo running out. And I assume you use resister wires.

Carb or EFI? Makes a difference when ordering the cps.

No. Only matters how it's mounted, holes or slots.
