Default belt guard breaking

I have an 89 FXR, I bought an after market chrome upper belt guard. It has broken at the rear mounting bolt. I welded it up and it broke again. Is there suppossed to be a rubber washer that the screw goes threw so it doesn't vibirate and break?

Maybe it is just the cheap jap material they make these out of.

Default RE: belt guard breaking

Most upper belt guards I am aware of usually have a rubber washer where the bolt goes through. The rubber washer soaks up alot of vibration and fatigue.....thus helping prevent the belt guard from breaking.
