Paco sent you a couple of pms. they are in fact 93+ bags the mod was done when I got the bike However the battery was moved under the seat and newer hardware was installed the bags were detachable for cleaning service etc.

UPDATE!!!!!!!........I got it back and have put 290 miles in a couple days. Bike runs great and sounds awesome! The rebuild was a total rebuild included top and bottom. They even polished my rocker cover. Total $1829.05 took 3 weeks exactly. I'm upset it happened but pleased with the result. Dealer was good to me.
Very Nice!! I'm glad you are back on the road. Take is easy and break her in nice. Proper warm up and timely fluid change is all you'll need for thousands of miles. Get yourself a manual and you'll be on the right track.
ride safe,

I've been following this with a lot of interest as I'm buying a 1992 FXR on monday and having never owned a Harley (lots of jap bikes though)before I'm rapidly coming upto speed (no pun intended) on servicing and manufacturing/model problems. Glad it came good in the end and I've been very impressed on ideas, suggestions and 'support'given by other members ............... I hope the bike brings many smiles and many more miles.
If you cut your teeth on Jap bikes then you will love the FXR nice solid handling light steering with the narrow glide front end and fairly smooth with the rubber mounts. The major thing I found was going down a gravel road at 80 with the jap bikes your in trouble with the Harley it seems normal especially on a rigid they seem to be at home in the dirt. You will enjoy the experiance and welcome the change welcome aboard
If I were you I would speak to the previous owner, and ask him if he would own up to it, and kick in a little $.
Chances are he knew about it when he sold it to you, I'll bet.. JMO...
What could he say, "No", or oh, ok I'll split it with you.
Ya never know, and I wouldn't be afraid to ask. It can't hurt.

yeah thats the thing. he called me in his office while it was in the shop. he said he felt terrible about the whole thing and wanted to split it with me. then sent me a follow-up e-mail and said he didn't really have it but would give me 200/month.......not a pennie yet. thats been about 3 weeks.
