Default Shopping list

My heads are out, and it`s definitive, the exhaust valve has huge hole. I can`t believe she managed to bring me back home.
While I rework the heads I decide to make a cam swap, this is my shopping list for all the work:

Item Brand Link JP Part Number
Gasket set Cometic http://www.jpcycles.com/product/603-115 603-115
Cam cover gasket Cometic http://www.jpcycles.com/product/430-904 430-904
Piston rings Hastings http://www.jpcycles.com/product/431-472 431-472
Intake valve Manley http://www.jpcycles.com/product/432-041 432-041
Exhaust valve Manley http://www.jpcycles.com/product/431-718 431-718
Pushrod Andrews http://www.jpcycles.com/product/432-157 432-157
Cam Andrews http://www.jpcycles.com/product/432-373 432-373
Cam bearing Torrington http://www.jpcycles.com/product/431-429 431-429

Do you think I`m missing something? Would you change any of them?
I have a couple of doubt`s, like wich is better, valves with nitrided stems or chromed? Are those pushrod ok or I better go with chromoly ones?
Any advice is welcomed, remember that I have to wait at least 3 weeks to receive these parts in Argentina, and I don`t want to realize I forgot something during the assembly process.
Best regards, Matias.

OEM lifters tend to fail sometimes at 50,000 miles(?) or so I've heard. Don't know what your mileage is. Be sure to get some cam shims. What year is your ride? Replace the o-rings for the pushrod tubes too.

I would go with Quick Install pushrods - no need to remove vavle train to install/remove. Adjustable pushrods - you still need to remove the valvetrain to remove. Never know when you'll have to get back in there for something.

I know these cost more but it was a quick search.

The ride is a 1998 FXD with 40,000 miles on it, wich brand of lifters do you recommend for this cam?

I don`t understand wich is the difference between CRANE pushrods and Andrews, do you say that with the Andrews I will still need to remove valve train if decide to change cams later?

Not the manufacture but the type of push rod. Adjustable pushrods require the vavle train to be removed if you want to remove the push rod. Quick Install (or Time Saver) style of push rod does not require the vavletrain to be removed.

there are several brands of "quick install" PRs. Andrews, RevTech, HD and probably others. Just make sure the ones you get are made to get short enough to pull without removing the rocker boxes (ask). I don't know what brand lifter to recommend, maybe someone else with more knowledge can.

If you have a hole in an exhaust valve with 40,000 on the motor, you might want to rethink your carb type or settings as well as your exhaust configuration.
As for your main parts list, I think your shopping is done. all the little crap is available locally.
Hatch.

The hole in the valve was made because my exhaust broke 250 miles from home, and I didn`t want to wait for a tow truck. So I finished the ride home with a broken exhaust (and broken ears also).
What kind of little crap are you talkin about? we have only one dealer in argentina, and he is not very interested in EVO customers.

Iagree with 98roadking...you probably want to get the push rod seal kit...after I replaced my cam I oil spraying from the bottom of my pushrods...I was able to get them to seal up a little better using some grease on the o-rings but still had a a leak from one. I ended up just replacing all of them from this kit: DS-194458

I think this is the same kit from JP Cycles:

I would get it all even living in the states, nothing more annoying then needing something and having to stop to go get it. It may be on a Sunday when no one if open as well.
