Default Swingarm Question

I posted this on the Dyna forum and didn't get any responses..guess you got to have a twinkie to get an answer there. I have found a good deal on a chrome swingarm complete with wheel and rear axle from a 2003 wide glide. Will this fit a 1997 FXD? Or would it be just too much work?

Guess not too many people are making swaps like that one! Seems to me you can make just about anything fit if you want to bad enough, but you probably know that already. Since you aren't getting any answers, I guess you are left to taking a good set of calipers and doing a whole lot of measuring.

Wish I could help. Good luck

It's the same frame so it will probably work. They changed to a wider rear tire at some point, but I think that was accomplished with a narrower belt. Don't know why the swingarms for those years couldn't be swapped.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will go ahead and buy it. It should have everything I need with it. I already bought the Wide Glide front end from the guy, so I think I will get the swingarm too.

I just did an ebay search for Dyna swing arms. It does appear the mounts are the same from 1991-2003, and like was stated, its the rear brake you need to upgrade too. But it should bolt on.

Sorry for taking so long to answer....

YES! Did this myself, an 02 swingarm on my 98 WG. Bolt on, no problems.
(Put in new bearings when you do it)
I have lots of pics if you need them.
Allows you to use the newer brake on the back, too.
Chrome- good scoop, man.
