You can get into ALL SORTS of problems with axle spacing. Not saying you can't do it, honestly I don't know, but be careful. Even if you have the correct clearance for everything to work, handling may go bad. be careful and good luck.

about the max size of tire you can fit without rubbing the belt on the 3" rim is a 140 the fender will almost fit a 180 but then you have to space over the tranny with an off set plate and a spacer on the engine plus the pulley will have to spaced over which will hit the swing arm. there are a few wide tire kits around that come complete, Heartland has some good ones. Take your time and measure things carefully. If the 18" wheel your talking about is a newer style it could be set up for a 1" axle and the disk/ rear sprocket holes are a larger size. It can be a night mare with the spacers they are really hard and not something you want to cut with a hacksaw. Best thing is to buy a few 2" custom ones and cut them down as you don't want to end up with a bunch of smaller spacers. Good luck and let us know how you make out
