Default Parts arrived today - Looks like I'm wrenchin this weekend....

Bought a '95 Heritage with 26K miles and very original. Rejetted the stock carb to 46/175 - the cover hadn't even been drilled out of the idle adjustment screw and the rivets are still on the nosecone cover. Air filter was filthy so a Ness Big Sucker went underneath the stock cover. Need to change the cheap INA cam bearing anyway, so ordered a new set of lifters, adjustable pushrods, and a Crane Fireball 310 cam to go in her while I have it opened up. Used a lot of the EV-27s in the past, so i wanted to try out the Crane.

No real reason for posting other than I'm stoked that the parts finally arrived. I hate waiting on parts.

Have you used an EV-27 on an otherwise stock motor? If so how did that work out?
Been thinking about throwing one in my '91 FLHS. Have fun with the build.

I hear ya. I'm sitting here with a nice set of apes and waiting on cables, brake line and wiring to show up. I even hid the apes in my storage room so I wouldn't cringe every time I saw them but that didn't help.

Have fun with the wrenches. I love working on my bike / Jeep / boat doing mods or maintenance but I hate fixing them when they're broke. Timing is always wrong.

....I call it garage therapy.
Always does me some good turning wrenches, but then again, I enjoy the hell out of it. Some guys just don't.

Sounds like you got some fun for you. I just did a bunch on mine like you are doing. Funny thing is I got some new slim looking stainless gas caps today. Took me a whole 30 seconds to swap them out!!!! Now that was a difficult mod

On both a 96 Dyna and a '93 FLHS, spectacular results both times with no change but the cam, bearing, exhaust and air cleaner...

If you search this forum for EV27 you will get plenty of threads and mostly good reports for it.

I've used the EV-27 on a lot of builds, all of them close to stock other than free-flowing air cleaners and upgraded pipes (some with baffles, others without), and always rejetting the carb/spacing the needle for whatever I'm doing. Andrews cams have a pretty aggressive ramp compared to some others, which contributes to a little more valve-train noise, but I've had a lot of success with them over the years. I had just never tried a Fireball 310 and wanted to do so this time, especially since the cam specs are pretty close between the two.

As an update, everything went great with the exception of the RevTech lifters a friend talked me into trying. I wasn't exactly sold on them beforehand 'cause I usually use S&S, Crane, Fueling, or even EOM. I noticed the oil passage was in front/back rather than being on the side as OEM. They didn't come with instructions from CC, nor could I find any online. I chose not to mess with them, cleaned and checked the OEM lifters which all seemed to be fine, and reinstalled. I'll change the OEM ones out as a winter project with something I have a little more comfort with.

Cam update: Since this is marketed as a 1500-4000 RPM cam or something like that, it feels like I may have given up a little off idle as I start rolling, but anything above idle she pulls strong until the vibrations tell you to shift. That's what I was after, so the Crane 310 gets a good report from at least my first ride of the week...
