Default I am in love....

Guy brings me a 1991 FXR in a trailer to get back on the road as its been in storage for a year.

Its got an 88" stroker kit and a Mukuni HSR42 plus a wide glide front end.

Fired it up and after it had stopped puking oil out of the air filter (wet sumping) I took the beast for a ride....and now I can't get that bike outta my head.....its easy to forget why people go all moist over FXR's....and then you ride a really good one......sigh....off my food, totally distracted, not having sex with my FXDWG....must be love ...I am a cuckold, as Shakespear would say.....

It's been several years since I have been on an FXR. Those things were sweet bikes and still are...waaaay better than the Dyna series.

The last FXR3 rolled off the line in 2000. If they were still making the bike today.....there is no telling how many improvements and refinements it would have. I can only imagine....

I know the feeling... I blew a chunk of my motor budget on a '97 sportster I just couldn't pass up or i'd be putting a stroker kit in my '93 FXR this winter. Nothing rides like an FXR, even a stocker, nothing at all.

Imagine a brand new FXRS-Switchback with the 103" motor?

Relax... you're not a cuckold unless your FXDWG has been running around behind your back with a Sporty!

I'd love to own an FXR someday... I had the pleasure of meeting Jay Stronghawk and seeing his beautiful 2000 FXR4 - one of the rarest Orange FXR4s - in Ocala last weekend at the FL Crew rally. SWEET bike... and Jay's a great guy. It had that wonderful "Evo lope" that you just don't get with these twinkees. Sometimes I fire up Bertha, our '95 FLHTP, just to hear it...

I also saw a green FXR with the flames last year on a ride... can't remember the year but I THINK was a 2000 FXR4. It was gorgeous and impeccably maintained. I really wanted to buy it... it was for sale, but they wanted $13,500, which is pretty high. Still think about it tho.

Someday...

As soon as I get things straightend out after the recent move. I will start finishing the FXR frame I picked up. I figure a 127" with a six speed should do nicely. Jesse James tank, and fender that came with the frame should look great. We intend to make some one off side covers out of expanded metal am\nd use an FLHT tranny so no need for a tin oil bag. Once we get started I will post some pictures.
For sure there is something extremely sensual about a clean FXR.

Wow, John! I may just have to ride down to your new shop and watch you work your magic on it! With a 127, that thing will blow the doors off of anything on the road! FLHT tranny is a GREAT idea... no wet sumping, no oil bag cleaning needed, and a lower COG to boot.

But how many watts will the STEREO have??? And how much CHROME??? Gotta keep all that in mind too, man...

I've had Harleys since the early 80s, but have been a recent convert to the FXR. In 2009 I bought a nearly stock '85 FXRS. Mods are limited to Progressive shocks, Vance & Hines pipes and work on stock carb. Everything else stock..paint, etc. I love this machine.

I seem to remember FXRs were made mainly for the European market as Americans thought they didn't look like real Harley's,seems to be a case of only missing them when there gone.

Check out kijiji.ca ( Canadian ebay kinda thing ) there are several below 10k in great shape. Do a seach for all of Ontario if your willing to take the hike northward.

Before I found my Dyna I came damned close to buying an FXR, but it was a little rough for the money at the time. But of course now I see several in my price range and great shape.

It's always the way...
