Default Ign. info needed

I've found a '98 Carbureted, factory-bone-stock FLHR that I'm interested in and just need to know for sure that it has the same ignition system (basically) as my '94 Evo. The current owner is clueless and out of state.

I'm pretty sure that all the carbed EVO's are the same, but I need some expert advice ASAP to be certain.

Also, did the '98 EVO's come from the factory with the Timkin inner cam bearing and updated lifters?

Thanks in advance.

Im not positive on the ignition so I will not respond. (but I think that they are the same)

My 98 did not have a torrington bearing nor the updated lifters.

for $300 (excluding pushrods) you could put a single fire ign. and OEM "B" lifters in it if you shop around

Thanks for the reply. I was just wanting to make sure that the OEM ignition was essentially the same for all of the EVO motors, as in the least amount of electronic crap to fail.

It took me over 2 years to find a bone-stock, low mileage black RK that hadn't been fu*ked with, which is what I held out for. The only thing I'll be doing to it is installing the updated lifters and inner cam bearing and NOTHING else (other than riding and enjoying it)!

Thanks again and ride safe.

cant comment on the ignition either (my 98 was EFI before i converted to carb), but i thought the 97/98 evo's had the updated "B" lifters. double check before you spend the money on it.

Yeah, I asked the owner, who is completely clueless. Used that to talk him down a few bucks. I'm a mechanic and I did the upgraded inner cam bearing & lifters on my '94 FXDS, so no sweat doing it to this one too, if necessary. It only has 12,000 miles on it, so whatever's in it should be OK for a while anyway.

Thanks for the response and ride safe.
