I have D402's front and back on my 99 Softail Custom, and I have 15,000 on them now. I think they will both go another 2,000 which is not to bad. I might try something else this next time but I have never had a problem with the Dunlops and get good mileage out of them. I hear of problems with about every other brand like out of round or blemishes and don't balance. I use to run Continentals on my old Sportster, and I liked the way they handled and rode, but they did not last long.

If you are going to try something different I recommend the Dunlop 491 Elite II's. They are way better than the 402's. The Dunlop Elite 3's are supposed to be very good too but I don't like the tread pattern.

I had the same but now that I have the E3's the 402's will never be on my rims again.

Well;
The Avon Cobra rear tire finally arrived the other day from J&P. Now off to pull the rims and get the tires balanced and mounted - via the dealership (Chicago HD). I'll posting some riding impressions of the Avons, after I get some mileage on them : )
