Default Cam choice?

Hello all. Looking for people who have done this that might be able to show their results.
I have a 97 Dyna and I am looking to get a 85" kit with SE heads, have stock CV carb with S&S air with Bassani 2 into 1 exhaust.
Any suggestions for cams...plus/minuses. Remember daily rider and I will be at 10.5:1 comp.
Thanks in advance.

Normally I advocate EV13 (or fireball 300 for that matter), but in your case I'd say EV27 (or Fireball 310)...
Anybody?

Lighter sportier bike, with relatively high compression - would benefit from a bit more aggressive cam with longer duration, which is EV27. In theory your low RPM torque will suffer, but given the bike and compression, I'd doubt you'll notice it. But between 2500 - 5000 you'll get lotsa juice!
Heavier and lower compression street bikes would like something more mild, just one notch up from stock which is EV13
Is that what you are asking about?

Basically yeah. I just want to do the best all around cam for that setup that is still reliable for daily riding..

I doubt there is best all around cam for real. Typically people would call EV13 that, but as I said my bet for your setup would be Ev27. Let's see what others have to say!

I have the SE 204s in my TC dyna and just installed an EV 27 in my Evo. I will say that the EV 27 is smooth and seems pull throughout the entire RPM range. I plan on bumping up my compression to 10 or 10.5 to 1 this winter and I would recommend it expecially with a daily rider

Look here:

Ev31 - same duration like EV27, but opens later, closes earlier, thus shorter separation. Maybe it will add a tiny bit more torque, but the curve would be pointier (less uniform).
So I'd say EV27 is more "all around" than EV31.
Bug gurus still have to confirm
