Finally!!!!!
I've been trying to use this website ever since I registered. August 29,2013.
This website seems to be MOST difficult to use and very user unfriendly.
And finally, I found this page to try to get some help using this website and to resolve my problem. I hope someone out there can help.
I am having trouble with my carburetor and would like to get some feedback.
I ride a 1994 FLSTC. Completely stock except for straight exhaust and accommodating jets.

No power at top speeds 2nd through 5th. It takes forever to get to 80mph in 4th or 5th. I "rebuilt" as much of the carb as I could (cleaned all jets, new fuel valve, new accelerator pump parts, O rings and gaskets) without removing it from the manifold with the JAMES GASKETS kit #JGI-27006-88. I did nothing however, with the VACUUM PISTON or the ENRICHER VALVE and when I ride I smell fuel. There are NO visible signs of leaking fuel. Can someone tell me, is the smell of fuel due to the Enricher Valve, the Vacuum Piston or both, since a problem with either will cause no high end power. OR, before I take the Fuel Tank off to remove the carburetor am I troubleshooting correctly ?

If you choose to reply here at HD Forums, please tell me how to retrieve the reply. This website is difficult. Or reply to me at eugggg1@yahoo.com. Thanks, Gene

This website is very easy to use.....maybe your web-browser has issues or you internet connection is very slow?

If you are gonna rebuild the carby you should take it off the bike, you should check out the slide diaphragm and also replace the carby to manifold gasket.

You might find that someone has incorrectly shimmed the needle, I had a superglide in once and they had fitted a home made shim under the needle, which had jammed and the needle was a quarter inch higher than it should be.....fitted the correct shim and it was perfect.

Check the float height too, this can't be done with the carb on the bike.

A month ago I'd have applauded you for straight pipes, that is until I put mine on a dyno and the performance tech said the engine is perfectly tuned but it's starving for back pressure...even if it's just a little. I reluctantly put them in and there was not a little, but a significant difference. I can't help you with a carb rebuild, there are better guys on here that have already spoken, but I do agree with the Cowboy...baffle up.

And don't mind the Seafoam inside joke. Traildog cleans his bike with it, brushes his teeth with it and puts it in his coffee.

I agree, baffles or torque cones, you need some back pressure. Or your carb aint right.
