I have a 85 with a 35mm front end from a sporty. The fairing slides in from the front. Put front wheel between legs to keep things straight and crouch a little so the front of your legs support the fairing. Once the fairing is on the bracket tilt forward a little to attach headlight wire while keeping bolts handy to put through fairing and bracket. Just start threading bolts to hold in place and compete job. Taking off windshield helps alot. If you have a warm body around it surely makes things easier.
I got the bracket on no problem so far,...I am going to have to do some rewiring though, as the fairing i picked up was of a FXR/P model & has a mint tach in it want to wire up & I don't think the harness thats in it is factory
Hmmm. FXRP fairing has no tach. Speedo and tach are bar mounted. Got some pics you can post?
I don't have any tips to help out. Just felt the urge to say, back when the FXRTs were new on the showroom floor I test rode one with my wife. The FXRT was one sweet riding motorcycle.
Hey Outlaw,
Not sure what the point was but thats what mine looks like
I bought it from a guy stripping a old police model,..sold to me as FXRP
I have no idea of its actual history,..
I doubt it's a P model. The FXRT had a radio caddy in some years, and that may be the bikes that had the fairing mounted instruments. Does your fairing have air vents or light pods?
The FXRT was a nice scooter ... Didn't get a lot of "respect" in the day ... Like Mr. Brown said " Pictures will be in order" ... soon I hope. Good Luck with the project, eh! ( Couldn't pass up the "eh" :>)
