Mr Woods knows his shizzle, I have used 210 mains with an EV27 and the plug was still a bit white so I went a grade colder on the plugs.

I'm going to try mine without shims on the needle or just one shim. Was running two but when I stepped up to a 185 main my gas mileage dropped off a little.

I am sure my gas mileage will suffer but it rides sweet, lots of low-down grunt...which is how I like them...

I run the CVP velocity needle, which I believe is very similar to the N65.
I had considered adding a washer to try and help eliminate the occasional lower rpm/throttle roll-on light pinging issue I have.
Does anyone see this as plausible, or am I off-base?

Well it now produces a heap more low down torque, so much so that with Mrs Spanners on the back today it pulled like it was being ridden solo.

The moral of this tale?

Never be afraid to experiment
You just had to go and post something like this. Now I have to tweak mine to see what happens. Running a EV27, 46 pilot, sportster needle, and a 165 main. Runs great and should probably leave it alone, but not my nature. Thanks

Been fallowing this and have a tuning question. 97 flstc carbed. andrews ev27 cam, Yost Power tube cv-40 master kit. 45 slow jet,170main jet,Idle mixture screw 3 turns out. Drilled 1/8" vent hole in float. Yost Blue needle C-clip in third slot from top. Bike runs great and pulls hard. However at cruising speed its a little sluggish if the throttle is mashed. If I slowly increase the throttle it pulls fine. What should I be looking to fix the issue?
