Default S&S Super E Accelerator Pump

Discovered that the off idle hesitation I'm getting on my 93 FXLR is being caused by the accelerator pump not working. The rod sems to move up and down slightly, but no fuel is being injected. A local Indy has an accelerator pump kit for about $23.00. Can this be repaired while the carb is still on the bike by just removing the two screws at the bottom of the pump body?

Did you try adjusting the pump stop screw ??? Screw it out 1 turn and try it. Might fix your problem.

Bowls gotta come off.

You'll lose it tring to do it on the bike.
Good news, the bowls easy to get off.

Thanks to those who contributed. As it turns out the pump rod was frozen. After a little cussing, got it apart and installed the new accelerator pump kit with the carb on the bike. Problem solved and works good as new.

I have an *80/80 Cubic inch Shovelhead and I inadvertently messed with the Accelerator Pump adjustment screw when I first put the carb on. All I am trying to find out is the static adjustment. I have the directions to adjust when running, but no info on initial setting. Help!

from the S&S carb tuning pdf:With engine idling, turn accelerator adjustment screw

clockwise until it lightly seats. Snap throttle open—

engine should stumble. Turn screw counter-clockwise ¼

or ½ of a turn at a time, until engine responds to throttle

twist with smooth, quick response.
