Easy 2 into 1 conversion?
Just wondering others thoughts on this .
just watched a video by dk customs where they used an inexpensive metal exhaust cap to plug the crossover connection of an oem 2 into 2. Thus creating what they say is now a 2 into one exhaust. I currently have s&s headers 2-1-2 but understand the benefit of a 2-1 exhaust. Is something like they propose feasible and if so how would the current tune based on a 2-1-2 exhaust be affected.
just curious.

I have a couple friends who tune for a living here in Indiana. They both said that the few builds they've done with these, the torque is massive down low but the top end bottlenecks early compared to a "true" 2-1. This is because a 2-1 that is built by design has some differences in diameter and head pipe length from the heads to the collector. Our stock head pipes just aren't built to run optimally as a 2-1.
To me, this just seems like one of those things not to cut a corner on. Hell, the stock head pipe with the cat removed is a solid performer.

It`s not a new idea
Ran a T/C ( carb ) that way for 15+ years
It`s a part of the sticky titled budget ideas

Well Howdy,
I was just getting ready to start a new thread. Asking for a ..... FRIEND....No really...
A buddy I ride with, we'll call him Hawkeye... he's a hunter. He has a 2025 SG ( what ever the official letters are...). His bike sounds like a sewing machine... compared to the rest of us. And I'm sure you know what the new bike exhaust sound like. He's had the bike for about a year now. For an early Christmas present, he got a set of Reinhardts DBX45, $200 off for an open box. Never installed, so new. He put them on and was amazed with how much better the bike sounded. ( Hold on people....this is not a thread about what slipons sound better, perform better or look better...that would be under OIL ). He really likes the sound. He does want to get a 2-1 mid length later on.
So. for now, he saw some YT video where someone did the EXACT same thing and cut off and capped the cross over under neath. TTT, I have never heard of that before. And then I see this thread. KARMA.
So does anyone else have more to add as to why NOT to do the mod?
Would be really interesting if a tuner had time to monkey around to test it.
Do a full tune with 2 slipons... then modify exhaust and then do another run to see actual side-by-side numbers...
Any tuners out there wanna give it a go?

I was looking to remove the catalytic converter. I paid good money for my bike, drilling it out is ridiculous IMO. If one can’t afford proper parts, one shouldn’t own the vehicle.
One comparison is old school muscle cars, factory cast iron exhaust manifolds, we put true headers on as a first modification after an air cleaner…buy the proper full exhaust, 2 into 2 or 2 into 1, you will thank yourself later.
I had photos of each side by side but deleted as why would I keep it on my phone. I am not on a quest to have everyone do what I am saying, just my .02…you do you,
