Which PowerCommander MAP for 2005 Softail
I have a 2005 Softail Springer (with stock ECM) and will be running Vance & Hines Big Shots Staggered with the Stage 1 Screamin Eagle air cleaner. Which MAP should I use with the stock baffles installed?
Power Commander website has MAPS for 2004 and 2006 Softtails, but no 2005. I've downloaded the maps and compared and they are waaaaaayyyy different. I emailed tech support a week ago, but haven't got a response. Pipes will be here Monday. Anyone have any idea why they are so different when comparing 2004 (w/ baffles) to 2006 (w/baffles) and 2004 (w/o baffles) to 2006 (w/o baffles)? I think 2006 download only unzipped a single file, but 2004 unzipped two.

RE: Which PowerCommander MAP for 2005 Softail
M805-126 Vance & Hines staggered Big Shots, Stock ECU and Screamin Eagle air filter
Should be this one.
This is for ALL 2001-2006 Softails
I think they list the other years specific for some reason. If your year is not listed you use this one.
I Have a 2002 and used the 2001-2006 map and it runs great. ( My year(2002) was not listed specific either)

RE: Which PowerCommander MAP for 2005 Softail
OK I had seen 805-126 on the PowerCommander website, but the Notes for that file have a different description when opened in PowerCommander software. It says:
2001-2002 Softail
Vance and Hines staggered Big Shots with baffles
(V&H part #17907)
Screamin Eagle air filter
Stock ECM
For the sake of argument... If I goto Tools -- Map Compare and open 805-126 (Vance & Hines staggered Big Shots, Stock ECU and Screamin Eagle air filter) and 805-180 (2004 Model. Vance & Hines Staggered Bigshots, Stock ECU and Screamin Eagle air filter) and then check the Fuel Table checkbox for both maps you then have the option of viewing either the Difference Table and the Average table. They are waaaayyy different.
This is essentially the same question I had before. If there is so much of difference between between 2001-2002, 2004, and 2006 models how do safely know whether my 2005 is more like a 2004 or more like a 2006???

RE: Which PowerCommander MAP for 2005 Softail
With respect to dyno tuning:
1) I have heard of too many people (not neccessarily fuel injected bikes) having their bike tweaked on a dyno to make max HP, but it's been so leaned out with the timing advanced that they burn up on the street. I unfortunately spend a lot of time in traffic with 90+ degree temps so I'll sacrifice that last 1-2 HP
2) I'm not sure that the custom tune is worth $200. Local shops (none of which I'm convinced know what they are doing) get $80/hr for dyno time, but quote $200 for MAPs. I just want something that is not gonna foul the plugs and something that is not gonna pop and knock.

RE: Which PowerCommander MAP for 2005 Softail
I finally got a response from DynoJet. They suggested using MAP 805-180. I called a local shop an they said that Harley made some refinements (different injectors) on some 2006 bikes.
805-180 has been working pretty well. I do get a little 'crackle/pop' when downshifting to slow for a light.
