I have a 01 Harley Ultra with FI. I took it out yesterday and it started running a little high at idle (2000 rpm) When I got about 45 miles out it wouldn't idle below 3000 rpm. By the time I got it home it was idling at 4000 rpm. Any idea would be appreciated.

when my dyna did that the throttle stop screw in the throttle body had came loose and wouldnt let the blade close.

 

I am having the same problem in my 2003 Road Glide. High Idling and engine light does not go out after engine starts.

 

I have found that sometimes when I fire my bike up, it will idle up high, around 2000rpm or so. If I right the bike (stand up the bike), it will idle down.

 

May very well be a leaking thru injector.
think about the simptons and what is happening.

 

Could also be a bad fuel pressure regulator causing too much fuel to flow through the injectors
