need help!
06 Sportster XL1200C
Ok I am having a problem. I have rejetted the carburetors, adjusted the mixture screw the required three turns out and drilled two quarter sized holes out of the baffles. The bike ran like crap for awhile. So, I leaned out the mixture one turn in. I had an occasional missfire or backfire not sure which....coming out of the carburetor before and after the leaning.(black sooted grease inside air filter and around the filter/carb manifold.) The bike runs much better in the leaned condition but I still have that occasional firing in the carb. It seems like the bike may be running hot but I am unsure. I am also getting a small amount of noise that seems to be coming from the valve train. It sounds like a sewing machine but not the giant one everyone else is talking about just a normal sized one....lol. If anyone has any advice about any of this it would be much appreciated.

The best thing you could do is to read the DIY section under Fuel/Carb related, there are some really good articles about adjusting the CV carb that if you follow them you should be able to do away with most of the problems. I've worked on cars, trucks and bikes all my life and I learned something from them, (little tricks) saved me some time.
