Unhappy gas pouring out carb when starting

Bike has been sitting for about 4 weeks (03 nightrain). Changed oil and wanted to circulate into system so I tried to start. It tried to start but then quickly "just cranked". Looking down I saw gas pouring out of carb puddling onto case. No noticable line leak. Leak appears to be coming from a port at mounting face where back plate mounts (face has four holes, three tapped for back plate and one at top left (looks like a port)). Any suggestions what might be the problem or what to do.

Float stuck. Turn off the fuel & start the bike. Let it run out of gas. Turn the petcock back on & watch for a leak. Usually it will cure itself but if it persists then you will need to clean remove the carb bowl 7 clean it out.

I agree, it sounds like a stuck float. If wfolarry's solution doesn't work you can always take the handle end of a screw driver and tap on the bowl after draining it. Sometimes that works and keeps you from taking the carb apart.
