Default Oil out breather

I have an 04 ultra and am having trouble with oil coming out breather and I will shut it down for about 10 min and it is fine for a while. I never know when it is going to do it. What could cause it?

Make sure you don't have your oil over-full. Could be coming out of the crankcase breather. Mine does if I get it too full. I usually put in about 3 1/2 qts on an oil change and don't have a problem.

Good advise from Sefferdog.
Another thing we do, is to drill the rocker support plate drains to .125", to allow the oil to drain away more rapidly from that area.

Can someone explain how running a lower sump tank oil level(lower than full on the stick) will decrease oil carry over. The idea to drill the rocker support drains makes alot of sense to me but not a lower oil level. Many on here tell others to run the oil level half way between full and add. This just seems like you are starving the top end for oil and thereby having less oil available at the breathers but this does not seem like an acceptable trade off to me. What am I missing?

Running oil capacity lower than factory recommends never has made sense to me. Drilling the rocker support plate under the breathers makes sense as does venting breather to the atmosphere. If the engine is breathing right, you should be able to run oil to the full level without blowing any out.

Check the breather valves in the head. Not sure if the plastic pieces were changed to metal in '04 or '05; the plastic ones will warp. Drill, as others have suggested, the drain hole under the breather in the rocker support plate, blow air through the passages and lines to check for any blockage and vent the breathers to the atmosphere. That should relieve any pressure in the crankcase and solve your problem.
